"Be prepared for churn. Remote working has opened up a huge talent pool for leaders to tap into."
Many businesses are thinking about how to attract staff with hybrid working, but that won't keep them. Paddy's point about facetime with them is key, if anyone has set up an office in another country they'll know how hard it is to maintain a connection to the mothership, same applies here. Make people feel appreciated and wanted. Small things mean a lot.
Also his point about keeping on the front foot. In the past i've worked with agencies who do the opposite of what everyone else is doing, push harder on sales and marketing...BUT watch your cash flow, that's the killer of every business.
The small things are the most important things from experience and I know it is something the three of us have always promoted.
I would say in the coming year, it is about how you make face time work when face time is through a screen, how you build presence and connection when you might have to limit face time. I know something that worked for a company I have worked with is eating together and regularly celebrating the in and out of work.
FWIW every leader needs to understand motivation of their teams and team members to build connection, if its only ever targets and numbers this is the quickest way to fail
This was the big takeaway for me.
